November Workday

Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation among whom you shine as lights in the world.”  Philippians 2:14-16

Without complaining we gathered on the 26th of November, two days after Thanksgiving to put our center in order.  Our project overseer, Pete Cannavino, who attends church at Leominster Assembly of God, put our Board President, Dave Bodanza and his sons Michael and Matthew to task sorting tiles and storing them for future use.  The Bodanza’s worship at First Baptist in Leominster.  Paul Thibodeau joined us for his first work day at CareNet.  He also attends Leominster Assembly and is part of a home group that has adopted CareNet as their outreach mission.  Thank you Jesus.  Dan Beauregard, our devoted techy, joined us making dumpster runs disposing of accumulated debris and making our newly formed rooms ready to paint.  Dan and his family attend the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Acton.  Dan is currently working on our first on-line auction.  He also will be, with God’s help, doing the data lines and phone system at our center.  Our next arrival was Dave Litalien, our electrician, Dave and his crew have put in many hours setting up all of the electrical outlets we need.  He brought with him a couple of batches of homemade chunky chocolate chip cookies his wife Maria made.  The Litaliens worship at Leominster Assembly of God.  Doug Marchant and his crew like Dave put in a lot of hours sub-dividing our space, putting up the necessary walls according to our approved DPH plans.  The Marchant family worship at Bread of Life in Westminster.  Rhonda Richard came aboard with her son Mathias and Tom Sheldon.  The Bodanza’s and others had set a couple of temporary storage rooms in order and Rhonda and her crew moved in to clean.  Rhonda’s husband Tom will head up our painting project.  They worship at Leominster Assembly.  Pam Sager, our client advocate and faithful servant joined us.  Pam recently attended a workshop on families hosted by another community agency.  Pam attends First Baptist in Leominster with her family.  Thank you Lord for bringing us so many talented servants.  As our morning came to a close Pete stopped me and showed me a picture on his cell phone of his newest granddaughter Abigail, born in November.  As I looked at this little baby, created in her mother’s womb I was reminded why we all do the work God puts before us.  We possess the “Light of the World” and we will not hide it under a basket.

Respectfully submitted by Gail Gardner, Director of CareNet with gratitude to our Lord whom I worship at Grace Anglican Church.  To Him be the glory.

Healing the Heartbreak of Abortion

Certified Leader Training, Surrendering the Secret

Healing the Heartbreak of Abortion

Millions of women silently carry the pain and heartache of a previous abortion.  They are trying desperately to hide their secret deep in their hearts, and many are suffering severe consequences.  We can no longer ignore this vast ministry.  with compassion, we must show these women how to replace the enemy’s lies with God’s truth, leading them to healing and freedom.  website:  www.surrenderingthesecret.com

Pat Layton is Founder and President of Life Impact Network, Inc., in Tampa, Florida. Life Impact Network began in 1986 as a post-abortion healing ministry called “Sisters of Rachel.” It was expanded in 1989 to include a crisis pregnancy resource center offering assistance to women who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy as well as those who have experienced a past abortion. The ministry expanded again in 1999 by offering a full-service abstinence education program that reaches out to young people in the community with facts, fun, and fellowship.

Lutheran Women in Mission League’s Monthly Meeting

Messiah Lutheran, Fitchburg

Our Staff Nurse, Paula Butler and I were privileged to represent our center at the October monthly meeting of the Lutheran Women in Mission League (LWML) at Messiah Lutheran in Fitchburg. These women are a caring group that is helping with our needs. The baby items you see will be a welcome addition to our Baby Boutique. Many of the items were given by the children attending their preschool and learning center. These ladies are dear to my heart as they teach God’s ways to others.

This is their pledge: “In fervent gratitude for the Savior’s dying love and his blood bought gift of redemption, we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest fields, we pledge Him our willing service, wherever and whenever He hath need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and gold to extend His Kingdom; our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost, and the erring into eternal fellowship with him.” Amen

Thank you Messiah for helping us in our mission to the loss and the erring. Messiah Lutheran has sponsored a table at our 9th annual banquet, “With God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

St. John’s Townsend

St. John’s Townsend Respect for Life Committee left to right: Mary (Rose) Fappiano, Chris Fappiano, Diane Oittinen, and Peter Pothier

On the eve of the “40 days for Life” campaign I was privileged to meet with the Respect for Life committee at St. John’s in Townsend.  Sheavoynne Wilson, from our board, joined us and brought her two children.  St. John’s is a giving church.  For the last three years we have received over 5,000 diapers from them, a much needed item in our ministry.  They listened intently as I told them what we do at the center and how we do it.  We talked about abstinence, abortion, and adoption.  I shared with them the many tools we use as we speak the truth in love to those Our Lord sends our way.    One of our tools is prayer.  Our Banquet theme this year is “With God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) and we embrace this truth.  Please join us and pray that our brothers and sisters in Christ will come on October 20th.  Pray that hearts will be transformed through our ministry.  Only God can transform the human heart and enable real change for the better.  This coming Saturday, our Staff Nurse, Paula Butler and I will travel to Messiah Lutheran in Fitchburg and Paula will talk about our Child Birth Education program.  Paula has just received her certification in CBE.  Jessica DeFilippo, one of our volunteer R.N.s is also certified in this field.  We look forward to our time with the ladies from their auxiliary.

Respectfully,
Gail Gardner

You are the treasure that I seek

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the US on September 11, 2001. It’s hard to think about that date without mental images of the destruction, grief, and loss that swept over America and the world following those tragic events. (Our Daily Bread)

As we ponder the destruction that happened 10 years ago, we can also think about the destruction that is happening today as the cancer of a culture that is moving away from God silently kills. We are part of a ministry that brings life. Please pray for our center that we will receive the financial support necessary to do the work God given us to do. Our “labor of love” continues. Saturday, September 9th God provided us with a hard-working crew. My day began at Messiah Lutheran as I talked to their Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Sue Lowe had invited me some time ago and I looked forward to sharing what God is doing through our ministry. I updated them with the progress happening at 515 Main Street. With pictures and words I shared our story. Sue’s husband Mike and the men from Messiah who had gathered for a Bible study stayed to listen. I pray that this will bear fruit and will bring us even more skilled persons to do our work. As demolition comes to and end, the task of building walls, installing plumbing and electrical work looms ahead.

Doug Marchant stopped by with his wife Karen. They worship at Bread of Life in Westminster. Doug is in the business of putting up walls. We are thankful that he has come to help. His expertise will insure that we meet all the standards we need to meet according to governmental regulations. A daunting task. Joining us was Dr. John Worden, a humble man of God, he has served as our Medical Director for six years now. With him came his sons John and Patrick. The good Doctor brought his tools and did the dirty work of removing existing structures so new ones can go up. His sons aided him in the process. Dr. Worden and his family worship at Sacred Heart in Gardner. Please pray for the “Respect for Life” committee in Gardner as they challenge Planned Parenthood opening there. Dan Beauregard took down wallpaper. We are thankful that it is the type that peels off in great big sheets, not like the paper I removed from my kitchen an inch at a time. Dan left early to visit his Mom. Pray for Dan’s mom as she recovers from health issues. Pete Canavino cleared the way for our third bathroom that needs to be built off our waiting room and Dave Bodanza donned a mask and continued demolition with Dave Haschig. Thanks Dave for the pizza from Expressos for lunch. We all went home around four, after clean up. A little dirtier than when we arrived, but resting in the knowledge that we will soon have a space that will celebrate life.

Next Saturday we will be presenting “unPlanned” a documentary about Abby Johnson’s journey from Planned Parenthood to pro-life. Try to come to the public library in Leominster and view the courage of a women who “changed sides”.

I’ll close with “Our sufficiency is from God.” (2 Corinthians) Thank you for your dedicated service.

A Labor of Love

We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1:3

Despite the usual celebration of the Labor Day Weekend with that last trip to the lake or seashore, the LORD blessed us with some twenty people on Saturday, September 3, for our continuing labor of love.  From New Hope Community Church in Ayer, Alex Siciliano put in a good day’s work.  A skilled tradesmen, Alex buckled down and did some more demolition, bringing us closer to the schematics of our design.  Our electrician, Dave Litalien, stopped by and was joined by his wife Maria to confirm some matters. Pete Cannavino, architect Pat Slattery and David Bodanza conferred on a number of issues concerning the future process on the project.

With most of the demolition done, we faced the reality of the rough plumbing challenge.
God sent us master plumber Zach Zufelt, who was joined by his daughter Zabrina. Zach and his family attend Horizon Christian Fellowship in Fitchburg. He owns and operates Royal Flush Plumbing and brought his workers, Dan Gilligan and Ray Fort, with him. Zach and company efficiently completed the demolition of the exisiting bathrooms and discussed plans for the progress of the plumbing portion of the project with David Bodanza. Pray for us, this is a big aspect of the project!

From Bread of Life Church in Westminster, we were also blessed by the expertise of Doug Marchant, who owns and operates Solid Rock Construction,  a drywall business. He was joined by his sons, Gabriel, Isaac, and Josiah, who built up a hefty appetite as they worked with their dad. Nurse Manager Paula Butler heralded lunch in the break room as she and her brother-in-law Johnny arrived with homemade sandwiches, lemonade and chips.  Pastor Lars Larson was on the scene wielding a powerful blow as he helped pull down some more walls. Dan Beauregard and David Bodanza were also on hand assisting. David spent alot of time making phone calls, lining up contractors for the following week, and was blessed by God’s providential care of the ministry through community connections.

Marissa Bodanza was our roving photographer for the day. Michael Bodanza and Dave Bradley put in more sweat equity and Gail Gardner made a good pot of coffee and cleaned another bathroom so that we could put it into temporary service as we are under construction.  We were just getting ready to wind down at 4:00 PM when we were visited by Marc Cappucci.  Marc attends Leominster Assembly of God church.  He and our Staff Nurse, Jessica DeFilippo, are planning to be married in November.  He was kind enough to store some of our items during our transition.  Among the items he delivered was our refrigerator. Praise God! Gail thought it was stored in our pod and thus inaccessible, but now we have a place to keep our much needed water cold.

We hope to be making good progress during the coming week. But please do not let that dissuade you “weekend warriors!” Please stop in at 515 Main Street on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 8:00 AM or thereafter and lend us a hand! We sure could use you.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

July, 2011 Director’s Report

July 10th, once again our church partner, St. John’s in Townsend did a “diaper drive” on behalf of our center.  We received over 5,000 diapers.  Peter Pothier is in charge of their respect for life ministry.  I continued to gather baby bottles from area churches.  July we received bottles from Christ Church in Fitchburg and People’s Church in Ashburnham.  Praying in the center has been on-going.  On July 14th I was joined by Ann Fleming and Gail Langhart volunteers from Heritage Bible Chapel for a time of prayer.  We followed it up with lunch at Chaibo’s.  On the 18th I stopped by St. Leo’s to pick up some checks and bottles.  The 25th was a time of fellowship with our board member Catherine Adair as I walked to her house for coffee and conversation.  On July 26th I met our staff nurse Paula Butler at the Leominster Public Library to proctor her test for her Childbirth Education Certification.  We continue to receive calls on our voice mail system with Verizon and I follow up each call.
