Care Net EXPRESS
An e-mail newsletter
from Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of
North Central Massachusetts, Inc.
Dear Friend,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well. We at Care Net consider it a privilege to send this to you in order to keep you informed as to what is happening here. Most of all, we want you to know that your prayers and donations have been instrumental in bearing good fruit.

After a difficult time of transition, we see evidence of ministry growth we never expected. God is faithful and He is working through His people! People have been so generous with their time, talents and treasure so that others in crisis may be reached and helped. It has been busier than ever!

Your partnership with us is precious and we do not take it for granted. I firmly believe that together, we have and we can make a difference of exponential and eternal proportions. As you read on, be encouraged. There may be trouble in this world, but take heart, Jesus has overcome the world. John 16:33.

I trust that you are enjoying the summer season and I pray that God blesses you with rest, relaxation and refreshment!

Grace and peace to you,
David P. Bodanza, Esq.
President

Straight from the heart...
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11

Care Net is a Christian ministry whose concern goes beyond the physical needs of those who come through our doors.

With thanksgiving and a burden in my heart to help others, I consider it a privilege to serve as Acting Director of Care Net.  Our only hope is God; He is in our lives and in Care Net.  As the prophet Jeremiah says: "God is working bringing us to a future hope and a holy healing."  Jeremiah 29:11

Each of us who serve the Lord at Care Net brings different gifts and passions we have received.  My years in youth ministry have put me at the heart of teen culture and have given me an opportunity to show them how much they are loved.  I consider this a gift and I bring it to the table.   I have been with Care Net for six years as a member of the board and I have received training as a peer counselor.  With God's help I will serve the staff and volunteers and together we will bring our services to the community.  I have volunteered my time to do this.

So, continue to walk along side us with your giving and your prayers as we serve in the mission field known as North Central Massachusetts.

Sincerely,
Gail Gardner,
Acting Director

Can I get a witness?
Little girl A witness comes to court to give evidence of what he knows or has seen. To be a witness, one must be in a position to see or perceive and relate what he has seen or perceived. Christ calls us to be His witnesses. Acts 1:8. We are to witness in our communities, in our region and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
The Christian has experienced the love of God in Christ. He has been rescued from a life of slavery to sin and is now being transformed by the Word of God through the Spirit of God. He was blind but now he sees ! And he cannot help but be a witness in some way to the new life He has received in Christ. Life is precious to him. Life is a gift to be used to glorify its Giver.

As we have opportunity, we witness to the sanctity of life. In the pregnancy resource center. At the high school health fair. In our churches. In our workplaces. With our checkbooks. With our time. With our talents. Both in word and in deed. If Christ has put that love and compassion in your heart, thank Him that you cannot help but speak the truth in love to a lost and dying world.

Save the date...for the Annual Banquet
Sheraton Our annual banquet is planned for Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the Four Points by Sheraton in Leominster.  Please save the date.  This is our major annual fundraiser. Many look forward to this evening of encouragement, good food and fellowship in the Christian community.  If you have never attended a banquet, please let us know you'd like to come.  We'll keep a spot open for you! We would love to see you there.
From the Nurse Manager... Paula Butler, RN

PaulaAs I reflect over the past month at Care Net, I am reminded of the awesome love that our Heavenly Father has for each of us, His children. One of the tools that I have found helpful to open the door to the gospel is sharing "The Father's Love Letter." This letter is compiled from 52 scriptures taken from the Bible. If you have never read this, you will be blessed by this beautiful web site: wwww.fathersloveletter.com.  Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." I am happy to report that God is touching the hearts of the clients who walk through our doors. They are noticing that there is something different about our center. We know that difference is the Lord!

We are busy with Limited OB Ultrasounds each Tuesday. Please pass the word around that we are in need of training ultrasound models. The expectant mom must between 6 -24 weeks along in pregnancy. God is using ultrasound as a tool to help save the lives of the unborn.

In other news, parenting classes are booming! Clients are expressing that they are gaining more insight to help improve their parenting skills. The clients are having fun shopping in our Baby Boutique with the Baby Bucks they are earning by coming each week. Thank you to all of you who donate new items to stock our Boutique.
Teen pregnancies in the news
Much has been reported in the media recently on the troublesome issue of teen pregnancy. The news media recently told us of an alarmingly high number of Gloucester High School students who became pregnant---apparently as part of some "pregnancy pact." While certain aspects of the story were disputed, the plain facts reveal that teen pregnancies are on the rise. Fitchburg and Leominster are in the top 25 highest cities in Massachusetts for teen births according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Fitchburg is number 7 on the list. Leominster is number 20.

There are a host of different opinions as to why this is the case. Some blame the popular media's failure to inculcate values, others the breakdown of the traditional family. Some point to teen apathy as to the moral, financial and social consequences of a pregnancy before one is truly ready to raise a family. Perhaps these are all factors. And there are others.

While the desire to be a mother may be a healthy, God-given gift, it can be misused and twisted. Many teens have no moral compass. They are drifting around in a godless culture and prey to the temptation that lurks everywhere. We are not surprised. Rather, we are acutely aware that our primary mission is ministering Christ to a lost world. While those in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy may have many needs, their greatest need is and will always be the need for Jesus Christ.

Norma McCorvey (the Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade) became a member of the pro-life movement in 1995. She now supports making abortion illegal. In 1998, she testified to Congress:

"It was my pseudonym, Jane Roe, which had been used to create the 'right' to abortion out of legal thin air. But Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee never told me that what I was signing would allow women to come up to me 15, 20 years later and say, 'Thank you for allowing me to have my five or six abortions. Without you, it wouldn't have been possible.' Sarah never mentioned women using abortions as a form of birth control. We talked about truly desperate and needy women, not women already wearing maternity clothes."

As a party to the original litigation, she sought to reopen the case in U.S. District Court in Texas to have Roe v. Wade overturned. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit decided that her case was moot, in McCorvey v. Hill, on September 14, 2004.

Some Words to Ponder...

"A person's a person, no matter how small."   Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who

"To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it."  G.K Chesterton

"Please don't kill the child. I want the child. Please give me the child. I am willing to accept any child who would be aborted and to give that child to a married couple who will love the child and be loved by the child."  Mother Teresa

"I've noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born." Ronald Reagan

"No man is worth his salt who is not ready at all times to risk his well-being, to risk his body, to risk his life, in a great cause."  Theodore Roosevelt

May God bless us all as we stand together for Him in this generation...
