Care Net EXPRESS
An e-mail newsletter
from Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of
North Central Massachusetts, Inc.
Dear Friend,
I hope this August newsletter finds you and your family well, enjoying this tropical summer in New England. While it has been raining nearly everyday, your lawn has probably never been so green in mid-August!

Last month was a busy one here at Care Net with a total number of 69 client visits in the month of July. Our new volunteers are trained and doing the work of the ministry. Paula and Amy are busy doing ultrasound scans. The financial coffers are low but we are praying for God's provision so that we can make it to the Annual Banquet in October, our primary source of financial support for the year.

I want to sincerely thank each one of you who have sent me e-mails regarding the electronic newsletter. Your encouragement spurs us on and inspires us. This ministry is certainly a team effort. Without your prayers, generous donations and encouragement, Care Net could not exist to minister to those in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy. We rejoice that God is faithful and He is working through His people!

It has been wisely observed that "you can count the seeds in an apple, but you cannot count the apples in a seed." Think about that for a moment. The fruit from a good seed is of exponential and eternal proportions! I hope you are inspired as you read on.

Jesus said "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."  Luke 6:38

Thank you for your precious partnership with us. May God bless each and every one of you!

Grace and peace to you,
David P. Bodanza, Esq.
President

Crisis...Perspective...Privilege
Crisis. What do you think of when you see or hear that word? All people to some degree will experience crisis in their lives. As Christians, we may often pray that the Lord would be merciful to us and spare us from crisis. Crisis may be caused by our own actions, that of others or something else beyond our control. Our own sin and unwise choices are common causes. While everyone will react differently to a crisis, some experiences are common to a person in such a situation: fear, stress, worry, guilt, denial, anger, panic, shock and confusion, to name a few.
Perspective.  People in crisis often lose their perspective or do not have a proper perspective to deal with a situation that is new to them. Care Net exists to help women in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy. By listening to them and understanding their feelings. By providing them perspective and support. By helping them to understand that they are not the first person to go through this situation. By assisting them to take positive action. By praying with them and for them. By comforting them with the fact that they are not alone. By showing them that there is help and assuring them that there is hope.
Privilege.  What a privilege it is for believers to serve Jesus by serving others in crisis. Jesus said: "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'  Matthew 25:34-40. Amen.

Why I volunteered to serve                                                    by  Kristine Benjamin
VolunteerTwo years ago, my husband and I attended a short term mission trip to Guatemala.  It was so fulfilling that we came back with more than we went down with.  I had a troubling feeling for a while though, that God was calling me to continue missions here in the U.S., everyday, among everyone.  It was easy for me to share the love of Christ with strangers in a foreign country, but could I continue this in my own community?

Within the last year, the Lord has led women into my life who have talked about having had an abortion or known loved ones who have had abortions.  One thing that really shook me was the pain and remorse they experienced.  My heart eventually longed to reach out to these women, and I realized that there is a dire need for the body of Christ to minister to them.  I began to have strong desires to become a volunteer at Care Net and after much prayer, the door finally opened.

I didn't expect the training to be so intense.  It was very thorough and my eyes were widened even more to the deep need for pro-life ministry.  More than saving babies' lives, the heart of this ministry is winning hearts to our precious Savior Jesus Christ.  He has healed the scars of my younger decisions, and it is exciting to me that He is actually using me - not in spite of my past, but because of it - to reach these precious women.  It is a dream come true to be serving at Care Net, and I praise the Lord for leading me here.  Please keep the volunteers and staff at Care Net in your prayers.  Pray that God would bring the right women to us and that He may always be glorified!

In Jesus' Name,
Kristine Benjamin
Apples, Pumpkins and the Annual Banquet
SheratonSoon we will be picking apples and harvesting pumpkins. The summer seems to be flying by so fast! We are hard at work getting ready for our Annual Banquet which is planned for Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the Four Points by Sheraton in Leominster.  Please save the date.  This is our major annual fundraiser. Many look forward to this evening of encouragement, good food and fellowship in the Christian community.  If you have never attended the banquet, please let us know you'd like to come.  Don't miss it! We would love to see you there.

The Annual Banquet is made possible by very generous and helpful local people, churches and businesses we call "Table Sponsors" and "Table Hosts." A Table Sponsor donates $500 to sponsor one table. That donation underwrites the cost and expenses of the banquet for the people at the table. A Table Host, who is often the same person, business or church as the Table Sponsor, will arrange for that table to be filled with people who care about the mission and are open to donating to Care Net. Our Table Sponsors and Table Hosts are very much appreciated. If you or your business could help in this way, please let us know. If your church is not yet involved in this way, perhaps you could be the spark that kindles the fire with your pastor or missions' committee. We pray that this Annual Banquet will be the best ever!
Is Ultrasound REALLY Necessary?  You decide...                         by Amy Beaupre, RN

UltrasoundFocus on the Family states that 90% of all women who see their preborn baby on the monitor will choose life for that child.  This statement alone speaks volumes. At CareNet, we have witnessed only a handful of women who have gone on to abortion, with most regretting their decision. It is a powerful tool but what are we really doing in that ultrasound room?

As we use this wonderful technology for limited obstetrical ultrasound to check for an intrauterine pregnancy and cardiac activity:

We are seeing for ourselves what we believe in our hearts. As CareNet staff, we are able to witness the beauty of God's perfect work within the quiet and peaceful places of the womb. These amazing images encourage us to speak TRUTH in love to hurting people.

We are reaching a woman right where her pain is. She is scared, alone and unsure of who she is now. Crisis pregnancy is just that...a crisis. She is surrounded by situations and circumstances that threaten her ability to even comprehend the thought of being a mother. Ultrasound carries her away from the outside world and brings her into her baby's world. Even the most abortion minded woman will smile as she views her baby for the first time.

We are educating a young woman about the life that lies within her. They may not want to believe what they hear but can they deny what they see with their own eyes? We educate women not to MAKE them keep their babies for our own personal or religious agenda but so they can make informed decisions on their own. There is something so compelling about the TRUTH that lies within.

For years, millions of babies have died without a chance to say how they feel about abortion. Ultra SOUND has given them a voice. A chance to speak to their mother's hearts. No one wants these mothers to suffer. Mothers are far more willing to listen to their children then to others and that fact will go on for the rest of their lives. It is the bond between  mother and baby...We don't have to say a word.

Ultrasound is an awesome responsibility and privilege. It is an honor to be present when mother and baby first meet.

Sincerely,
Amy Beaupre RN, CD(DONA), CBE

A Special Request
BabyProject Ultrasound Training. It would be very helpful for Care Net to train a second staff nurse for ultrasound scans. Right now, our Nurse Manager Paula Butler has nearly completed her ultrasound training and is at the threshold of certification. We are so thankful to God and Amy Beaupre. Amy came back to help Paula at a perfect time. Thank you so very much Amy! God's timing is perfect. Now with a gift (or gifts totalling) $2,000, we will be able to underwrite the cost of ultrasound training for Nurse Jessica DeFilippo as well. Can you help us in this way? We pray that the Lord would burden a heart or hearts in this way.

As always, there are others ways you can mission with us too:
Pray for Care Net on a daily basis.
Give regularly to support the ministry.
Volunteer at the Center to work as a peer counselor, in the office, or as a member of a task force performing services such as computer technology, graphics design, video and other skills.
Become a Table Sponsor or Table Host for the Annual Banquet. If you cannot personally serve as one, could your church or business do so?
Let us know how we can better inform and encourage your church.
Lets work together with the compassion of the Lord.
Thank you for giving to the Lord...

Did you know?
All information needed to create a whole new person is contained within the nucleus of one single cell, called a Zygote, and that that Zygote is smaller than a grain of sand. This single cell is commonly called a fertilized egg; yet in fact it is a brand new person. Thanks to the 23 chromosomes from each parent, this Zygote now has 46 chromosomes (23 pairs). It contains the complex genetic blueprint for every detail of this human being, such as; gender, hair and eye color, height and skin tone, to name only a few. Indeed this boy or girl Zygote contains information 50 times greater than that found in an entire set of Encyclopedia Britannica. The boy or girl Zygote (fertilized egg) divides within moments of conception. The one cell becomes two cells, then four cells, this multiplication continues until the boy or girl Zygote has become a cluster of cells, all within 4 to 6 days of fertilization. Life surely begins at conception, and both biology and theology confirm that fact! "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."  Psalm 139:13-14

More than 45 million abortions have been performed in the United States since 1973, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Currently, around 1 million abortions take place in the U.S. each year.
