An e-mail newsletter
from Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of
North Central Massachusetts, Inc.
Dear Friend,
I hope this November newsletter finds you and your family well and counting your blessings on the eve of Thanksgiving Day. We at Care Net are very grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement we recently received at the Annual Banquet. Many remarked that it truly was an evening to remember.
Last month was quite busy but very fulfilling. Not only did we have a total number of 52 client visits, 20 pregnancy tests, 3 ultrasounds and the privilege to present the Gospel on 21 occasions, we made final preparations for the Banquet. Everyone worked together so perfectly to make the evening special. It is truly a privilege to serve God together.
I want to sincerely thank each one of you who participated in the event in any way. Your loving and generous hearts will bless lives you may never meet until we get to heaven. It is truly more blessed to give than receive.
As we approach the eve of a new presidential administraion in America, there seems to be very good reason to watch and pray. The winds of change are in the air, and the battle for the unborn may become very difficult in the days to come. As our laws in Washington may make abortion more widespread, our love and compassion right here in the Montachusett region should make it more rare. Please stand with us in the face of the storm!

Thank you so very much for your precious partnership with us. We do not take it for granted. May God bless you and keep you.

You are special and you are loved!cornucopia

An Evening To Remember!
David BodanzaAs most of you know, our Sixth Annual Banquet fundraiser took place at the Sheraton Four Points on October 23. We were very pleased to have our consistent supporters with us and some friends who are new to the ministry. Judging by the comments of many who attended, the Banquet this year will certainly be an evening to remember. It truly was a celebration of life and God's amazing grace among us over the past 32 years in the Montachusett region. Everything ran so smoothly!
David Bodanza welcomed our guests and Pastor Eric Hartlen of Heritage Bible Chapel opened with prayer. A lovely meal followed. David Bodanza opened the program by providing some background of Care Net in Fitchburg. Care Net is one of 1100 pregnancy resource centers in the United States under the Care Net national umbrella. Care Net is on the front lines of the culture war for life today. Care Net in Fitchburg, and other preganancy resource centers like it, is saving lives by fully informing and supporting women in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy. Ultrasound technology has proven to be a powerful way of showing women who are unsure of what they truly carry in their wombs. There is a mission field right here in our backyard, and more and more people are answering the call to serve. We are delighted by the new volunteers we have added this year!  We were reminded by the immortal words of missionary William Carey to "Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God."
We were very pleased to honor Pastor Edward Neuhaus with the Pro-Lifetime Achievement Award. Pastor Neuhaus is well-known to many, having served in ministry for over 50 years. He has been a consistent supporter of life, both prayerfully, financially and as a volunteer, and a gentle but firm advocate for its sanctity. We were also pleased to honor past president John Deery and past executive director Kathy McKinnon with Pro-life Champion Awards, recognizing and thanking them for the years of faithful service to Care Net. As always, all glory and honor go to God for His work in and through these lives, but we simply show our love and gratitude for their faithfulness!
GailExecutive Director Gail Gardner presented a brief update of what is happening at the Center. We were truly blessed when Gail shared how she was planning a quiet retirement but, as we have learned, God had other plans for her! Gail has served as our director this year, volunteering her time. The transition has been very smooth and her 6 years experience with Care Net and many years in youth ministry have certainly prepared her for the job that she didn't know she was going to have.
We were truly blessed to listen to the original song written by Chandler Ervin especially for the evening entitled "Can I Make A Difference?" Chandler and Matthew Bodanza (two 16 year olds!) performed the song with poise and passion. Many have asked us for a copy of the lyrics, and we reprint them below courtesy of Chandler.
David Bodanza then raised awareness to the intensity of the battle for the unborn in America. Statistics reveal that 3,300 abortions are performed every day in our country. It is like a 9/11 happening every day with no end in sight. The media does not seem to care. Each day, 3,300 women wake up in America believing abortion is the only realistic solution to an unplanned pregnancy. Brother and sisters, this should not be. In this tragic decision, not only is a human life ended but a woman's life is changed forever. Then came the centerpiece of the evening, the Care Net documentary video. This 22 minute presentation chronicled the grace of God in our community through the testimony of several people from all walks of life. We were inspired and encouraged by the remarkable providence of God, His saving of lives and the courage and commitment of His people. If you haven't seen the documentary, you need to! We hope to have it available on the web in the days to come. We will let you know when it is available.
We were reminded that the wisest investment in any economy is to invest one's time and treasure in the service of God. Donations were received and the ministry was blessed with the generosity of those who came. Please know that our budget is "lean and mean." Your donation will be used wisely; these dollars go to directly to ministering!
Chandler Ervin and Matthew Bodanza performed "Amazing Grace" while Pastor David McIntosh of the Leominster Assembly of God closed the evening with prayer and a reminder of a man named Moses who was life was spared from an abrupt end during infancy and who went on to deliver a people from slavery and oppression. What is at stake here is eternal. We rejoice that with God there is hope and a future. Thank you all for coming, giving, participating, praying and working, often behind the scenes, for the glory of God and the good of people.
Celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday this coming January...
Baby crawlingIn 1983, the Christian Action Council Education and Ministries Fund, which is today known as Care Net, asked President Ronald Reagan to create a special day to focus on the intrinsic value of human life and the fundamental right to life, as recognized by the American Founding Fathers.

In 1983, President Reagan issued a proclamation establishing a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Since 1983, the proclamation has also been repeated by Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush.

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973. This coming year it is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2009.
We are asking every Christian church in the Montachusett region which supports life to have a second offering during their Sunday, January 18, 2009, service to benefit Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of North Central Massachusetts. Pastor and church leaders, please let me know by a quick e-mail if we can count on you. Thank you so very much!
Now More Than Ever
President-elect Barack Obama stated last year that his first executive order if elected white housepresident would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which essentially would deny the government any "interference" with a woman's decision to have an abortion, essentially eliminating all restrictions on this tragic practice. The bill has never made it through Congress, but the political composition of Congress has recently changed considerably.
We are concerned that this will have a devastating effect on woman in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy, making it more likely that they will make a decision that appears easier but will bring them a lifetime of sorrow and pain. With little or no restrictions of law preventing the practice, the love and compassion of local pregnancy resource centers will have even more importance in supporting and informing women. Now more than ever, the courage, conviction and commitment of those who support life must come forward.

Can I Make A Difference?                 Lyrics to the original song played at the banquet

There have been some, who reached the thousands in a day
I've never been more than a passerby
This walk of mine, is peaceful and secluded in this world
I hide so I won't be ashamed
But you're calling me to something more
To share to the world all I have and all You are
But can I sing?
If my voice is weak and I don't know the words
Can I live?
A life without regrets, an example of your love
Should I help them?
Those that listen to the lies of the world
Can I shout?
Out into the edges of their souls
Lord, I've given you my heart,
so carry out your plan in me
But I don't see how what I do could make a
Can I make a difference?

Way back then, maybe it was easy to talk about youHall
But in this day there's nothing more obscure
Cause maybe you got the wrong one
And you don't know who I am
But you're calling me to something more
To share to the world all I have, and all You are
 repeat Chorus

Some Words to Ponder...
"The product, abortion, is skillfully marketed and sold to the woman at the crisis time in her life. She buys the product, finds it defective and wants to return it for a refund. But, it's too late." Carol Everett
"Abortion is inherently different from other medical procedures because no other procedure involves the purposeful termination of a potential life."
Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart
"After tens of millions of [abortion] 'procedures,' has America lost anything? Another Edison, perhaps? A Gershwin? A Babe Ruth? A Duke Ellington? ... As it is, we will never know what abortion has cost us all." Joseph Sobran
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." Mark Twain
"This we do that others may live."  The mission statement of the U.S. Coast Guard
"Duty is ours, results are God's."  John Quincy Adams
May God bless us all as we stand together for Him in this generation...
