Care Net EXPRESS
An e-mail newsletter
from Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of
North Central Massachusetts, Inc.
Dear Friend,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well as the children are heading back to school or off to college. It certainly has been a long hot summer. The vegetables and weeds have both been thriving. Many are looking forward to a change in the weather pattern. As the old saying goes,  "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute!" The heat and humidity of summer will soon give way to the beauty and the crisp coolness of autumn.

The spring and summer were busy here at Care Net. In the first half of the year, the Center had a total number of 445 client visits, 73 pregnancy tests, 22 ultrasounds and the privilege to present the Gospel on 51 occasions. We welcomed David Haschig to the board and Joan Kopley and Wendy Mattis to the Center as new volunteers.

Weather is not the only change in our community of late. There is a change in the battle for the sanctity of human life. Things have become much more intense. Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts has recently opened three new "family planning centers" in central Massachusetts: Fitchburg, Marlborough and Milford. All three offer "abortion referral." As you may know, PP regularly performs abortions at its facility on Pleasant Street in Worcester.

The old axiom still rings true: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. " We cannot close our eyes and shut our hearts to the needs of women in the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy in the Montachusett region. People like you and the entire staff of Care Net are determined to love people back to life again. The Lord has allowed us to participate in this great work for 34 years. It is needed now more than ever.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under bucket, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5.14-16) We are living in the midst of a culture in a state of gross darkness. There will not be any light in this world except from you and I and the Gospel we live, believe and teach. Thank you for shining with us! We do not take you or your church for granted. We are very grateful that we work side by side. Lives have been spared and souls have been saved!

May God bless you in all ways,
David P. Bodanza, Esq.
President

We Are On the Move
The Cottage

We received news earlier this year that Community Health Connections Fitchburg, a federally qualified community health center, received a $10.7 million federal grant. The purpose of the grant is to construct a new 45,000 square foot community health center at the Burbank Professional Building and the seven acres of land upon which it is located.  With the planned redevelopment of this property, Care Net had to find a new home! After much prayer and investigation, we are pleased to announce that the Lord has graciously provided us a new and perhaps even more conducive location on the Burbank Campus through the generosity of Health Alliance. The building known as "The Cottage" at 375 Nichols Road, a freestanding house fitted as a medical clinic, will become our new home. The atmosphere is warm and the building very accessible for clients.

Groundbreaking on the new CHC project is scheduled for September 20, 2010.  We understand that we will have to relocate by November. This will be a major undertaking for us as some remodeling and fit-up will be necessary. We will need the help of the Christian community. If you are a carpenter, painter, plumber, electrician, computer technician, telephone technician, carpet layer or architect, and you are willing to donate your time and talents to make this new home a reality, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We are praying that you will come forward. We simply do not have the funds to pay for the work that will be needed. Many hands make light work. May God bless your generosity.
Only Words?
Baby in the wombThe old children's saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me" is plainly false. Another saying is more accurate: "The pen is mightier than the sword." The U.S. Supreme Court penned an opinion in 1973 that has resulted in the killing of over 52 million people. How could this be? The Court wrote that the unborn have no constitutional right to life because an unborn [person] is not a person for purposes of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Even a viable unborn person is not safe from this ghoulish redefinition.

In the end, a mother presently has the choice whether her unborn child lives or dies. Millions of would-be mothers are haunted every day by their choice to have an abortion. While our society is busy calling evil good and good evil, we cannot escape the consequences of our choices. Our choices will define us. You can tell what a person really believes by the choices he or she makes.

We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of all creation and that the killing of unborn babies is an heinous offense against Him. We choose to love women back to life! Though we have little money and no grants from the federal government, greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Will you choose to join us?

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21
Save October 21, 2010 for the Banquet
victorianOur Eighth Annual Fundraising Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the Four Points by Sheraton in Leominster. We hope that you will plan to attend! Our banquet was a wonderful success last year and we are hoping for the same this year. It is an evening of fellowship and good food with the opportunity to hear what is happening at Care Net and how you can be a part of what our Lord is doing through His people here. It is also a time to catch up with others in the Christian community that you have not seen in awhile. Our theme this year is "Overcome Evil With Good."

The Annual Banquet is made possible by very generous and helpful local people, churches and businesses we call "Table Sponsors" and "Table Hosts." A Table Sponsor donates $500 to sponsor one table. That donation underwrites the cost and expenses of the banquet for the people at the table. A Table Host, who is often the same person, business or church as the Table Sponsor, will arrange for that table to be filled with people who care about the mission and are open to donating to Care Net. Our Table Sponsors and Table Hosts are very much appreciated. If you or your business could help in this way, please let us know. Give us a call or send me an e-mail. If your church is not yet involved in this way, perhaps you could be the spark that kindles the fire with your pastor or missions' committee !

For Such A Time As This

William Wilberforce (pictured here) was an evangelical member of Parliament who fought for the abolition of the British slave trade and slavery until both were finally outlawed in the British Empire. What is remarkable is that Wilberforce waged this battle for 46 years of his life, from 1787 to 1833. The abolition of the slave trade was defeated 11 times before the measure passed in 1807. The abolition of slavery itself did not become a reality until 1833, just 3 days before Wilberforce died! As John Piper writes, "what made this man tick?" Why did he persevere and endure so much defeat and ridicule in this cause?

Wilberforce
Simply  put, Wilberforce was not a politician who happened to be a Christian. He was "a radically God-centered Christian who was a politician." There is a world of difference between the two. Furthermore, he was not simply interested in laws that would benefit society. Even more noble was his cause. It was his motive to "pass laws to eradicate the activities of society that were offensive to God."

I don't think we can even imagine how offensive 37 years of infanticide is to our Holy God. Over 52 million people that God created in His image have been killed since 1973. Can you sit idly by and do nothing?

If you have a desire to serve or would like more information about where you could fit into this ministry, please let us know. You will be so blessed to be a blessing! They need you. May the courage, convictions and commitment of William Wilberforce inspire you.

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40.
The End of the World

Book publishers are reeling in profitsHourglass once again as some authors predict that the world will end on December 21, 2012. This is apparently based upon the date that marks the end of a 5,126-year era on the ancient Mayans' "Long Count" calendar. We recall that Jesus taught, "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." Matthew 24:36. Despite clear biblical teaching, many people cannot resist the sinful temptation to speculate on things that have not been revealed to men. I recently struck up a conversation with someone at work to see how they would respond to this latest prediction of the end of the world. I asked "Did you know that the ancient Mayans predicted that the world will end on December 21, 2012?" The reply delightfully surprised me. "Well, I always remember what my mother said. The world ends for someone every day." What a poignant reminder of truth. Everyday people die. Everyday babies' lives are savagely cut short. Moses wrote, "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12. While we have breath, let us serve God with the gifts and opportunities He has given us. There is work to do. Let us spend our lives saving lives. May God give us the grace to do so.
Choose a "Choose Life" Plate
plate
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles is now offering the Choose Life license plate. The Choose Life License Plate is a wonderful way to raise public awareness regarding the sanctity of life and much needed funding to support the positive choices of life, adoption and safe havens for unwanted pregnancies and newborns. The plate features an image of a mother holding a child with a yellow heart behind them. The bottom of the plate reads "Choose Life." Proceeds will be distributed to qualified not-for-profit agencies within Massachusetts that do not counsel in or refer for abortion. For more information about the distribution of funds please visit http://www.machoose-life.org. To order the plate, visit: http://www.mass.gov/rmv/express/chooselife.htm.
Some Words to Ponder...

"It's a lie when they tell you they're doing it to help women, because they're not. They're doing it for the money." Former abortion counselor, Nita Whitten.

"The picture of the baby on the ultrasound bothered me more than anything else. The staff couldn't take it. Women who were having abortions were never allowed to see the ultrasound." Former abortionist, Joseph Randall, M.D.

"Sweeter even than to have had the joy of caring for children of my own has it been to me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them." Susan B. Anthony

"No indulgence of passion destroys the spiritual nature so much as respectable selfishness." George Macdonald

"Christianity must be practical. Two children were afraid they would be late for school. One said, 'Let's kneel down and pray to God that He may help us not to be late.' The other child offered a more practical solution: 'No, let's run and pray at the same time.'" Anonymous

"Some say if only my fears and doubts will leave then I will get to work. But instead you should get to work and then your fears and doubts will leave."  Dwight L. Moody

"The cost of true greatness is humble, selfless, sacrificial service. The Christian who desires to be great and first in the kingdom is the one who is willing to serve in the hard place, the uncomfortable place, the lonely place, the demanding place, the place where he is not appreciated and may even be persecuted. Knowing that time is short and eternity is long, he is willing to spend and be spent. He is willing to work for excellence without becoming proud, to withstand criticism without becoming bitter, to be misjudged without becoming defensive, and to withstand suffering without succumbing to self pity."  John MacArthur

"Good works are indispensable to salvation - not as its ground or means, however, but as its consequence and evidence." John R. W. Stott

"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."  James 2:14-17

May God bless us all as we stand together for Him in this generation...
