About CareNet Fitchburg
Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center in Fitchburg has been serving North Central Massachusetts since 1976. The Pregnancy Center is licensed as a medical clinic by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
We are a non-profit Christian ministry offering life-affirming alternatives to abortion and compassionate counsel to those who face pregnancy and abortion related issues.
Our Mission is to educate, support and empower women and couples facing unplanned pregnancies. A first step is to provide pregnancy testing and a free limited obstetrical ultrasound to confirm a pregnancy. We offer pregnancy and childbirth classes and parenting classes, all at no cost.
Because every person is valuable, each individual who comes to our clinic receives the highest quality care in a comfortable, hope-filled environment.
We are an affiliate of Care Net National, Heartbeat International and the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA).
We are supported by individuals, churches, and the local community, so we are able to provide our services at no cost.
Our Story
How We Got Started
Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of North Central Massachusetts, Inc. first opened in 1976 as the Family Life Center. The Family Life Center began as a pro-life outreach to women with unplanned pregnancies.
In September of 2002, the Family Life Center became an affiliate of Care Net and changed its name to reflect that affiliation.
In February of 2006, we became licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a medical clinic offering free ultrasounds to our clients. That same year we celebrated thirty years of service in our North Central communities and beyond. Rose Giammalvo, an original signer of the articles of organization, received our first annual Pro-Life Award at our banquet in 2006.
Our staff and board represent an assortment of Christian brothers and sisters worshiping in different churches in our area. Most of the funds to operate the center come from individual donations and churches.
Where We Are Now
For the past 46 years we have helped women, men, and families who have found themselves in the midst of an unplanned pregnancy. Our goal is to educate them so they may be empowered to make informed decisions.
