David Benson, Keynote Speaker at Annual Banquet – October 12, 2017

Come hear our keynote speaker: DAVID A. BENSON
Teacher, Speaker, Lover of Life

DAVID A. BENSON

David Benson was born in Florida in 1970 without half of his arms and legs but has never let that stop him from embracing life. From being able to put his own socks on in the morning to driving a car, skiing, scuba diving or kayaking, David doesn’t let any obstacle get in the way of enthusiastically loving the life God has given him. He has been an educator for almost 20 years mostly as a special education teacher. He brings his no nonsense and humorous approach to life teaching people that no matter their circumstance God has a plan for everyone. His powerful testimony brings encouragement and hope to those who hear his story. Through David’s life story, people can see that, no matter the obstacles or barriers, there is a place for each and every one of us. David’s inspirational message reaffirms that all life is precious. We all have a purpose and no one is ever a “mistake” in God’s eyes.

If your church is not yet involved, perhaps you could be the spark that kindles the fire with your pastor or missions committee!

2016 Banquet, 40 Years of Excellence

The staff and directors of CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center all say Thank You, to our guests and donors for a wonderful evening and successful fundraiser banquet. You make the Compassion, Care, and Counsel we do here at the center possible.

40 Years of Excellence 1976-2016

40 Years of Excellence
1976-2016

Our Center was originally named The Family Life Center in 1976, just three years after Roe v Wade.  We graciously received a grant of $3,000 from the Campaign for Human Development to cover the cost of rent for one year as a start-up fund.  That grant required that we be housed in a low income neighborhood.  The first location was on Daniel Street in Fitchburg.  The Family Life Center maintained a clothing thrift store to help finance services.

In 2004 Family Life Center changed names when it became affiliated with CareNet, we became CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center of North Central Massachusetts.  In 2006 we became licensed as a medical clinic and extended services to include ultrasounds.

In 2012 due to a renovation project at the Burbank campus, we needed a new location.  We prayerfully considered where our next location would be and the Lord brought us to our present home at 515 Main Street.  Our first task was to transition our new space which was a little worn out, to a medical clinic that would meet state requirements.  God provided, He brought us licensed professionals who volunteered their time and talent to completely fit-up this new facility.   He brought us generous donors who helped with the costs.

Today we continue to serve North Central Massachusetts from our base in Fitchburg.  We share God’s desire for every baby to be recognized as the gift that he or she is.  Our own Rose Giammalvo continues to volunteer at the center, and has since its inception in 1976.  Thank you Megan Seymour for the cake.

Banquet 2016:  Abundant Life, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  John 10:10

What a gathering.  We came together to celebrate life, honoring our mission to bring life-affirming alternatives to abortion.  We shared stories.  Our own board president shared his story about his own life and how his birth mother chose adoption.  It brought tears to our eyes.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.

Thank you for your support at the 2015 Fundraiser Banquet

From all of us to all of our donors and supporters; Thank you!

What a night.  Over 240 people attended this year’s 2015 Fundraising Banquet.  We started the evening with our President David Haschig welcoming our donors and guests. Pastor David Jacoby led us in prayer before dining.

This year’s Pro-Live Achievement award was presented to Megan Therriault for raising over $10,000 for Care Net during the 10 years she has been running the Boston Marathon.

Next, our Executive Director, Gail Gardner presented the Center Report and accomplishments this past year at Care Net. All glory to God for His faithfulness to this organization and our community.

There was a presentation to Dawn Weld in honor of her husband John (we all know him as Jack). What a blessing Jack has been to Care Net for many decades.  We look forward to seeing you again in glory, dear friend.

Leah and Lindsy Thibodeau performed “Does Anybody Hear Us”, by Casting Crowns. What a blessing!

Our Nurse Manager Paula Butler, shared a story from the Center on how God honored prayer and saved another life from abortion.  It was a story of a young woman, in a crisis pregnancy who could see no other option but abortion. Through counseling, prayer, and with the support of the staff at Care Net, this young woman chose life!  She plans on placing her baby into adoption.  This act will bless another family who desperately want children. What a story, what answer to prayer, what an outreach we have at Care Net, what an honor to God!

Next, Pastor David Bodanza spoke to our donors and guests. His message: Let us all come along side and be helpers to Care Net and this ministry God has placed in our community. A special guest appearance by actors from New Life Fine Arts playing “Christian” and “Helper” from the story of The Pilgrims Progress, came to encourage us all to be helpers to the work being done at Care Net.

In conclusion, Elizabeth Jacoby on the violin and Ed Laliberte on the keyboard,  introduced Amazing Grace. Both Elizabeth and Ed are from Messiah Lutheran Church.  Pastor David Bodanza and Pastor David Stewart led us in singing Amazing Grace and closed in prayer.

Thank you for your support at our October 2013 Banquet

What a night!  About 220 of our friends and financial supporters attended our fundraising banquet on October 24, 2014.  Our President, David Haschig, began by welcoming our guests. Fr. Michael Clemens, Associate Pastor at St. Joseph’s, opened in prayer and gave the blessings of the meal. After dining, our Executive Director, Gail Gardner gave us an update on all that God is doing in Fitchburg, and our surrounding community, through Care Net PRC.

Next, David Haschig spoke and then introduced Merry Nordeen, who worked on the “Choose Life License Plate” project (Ken Nordeen was called out of town on business and was unable to attend). Merry spoke on all the challenges and legal dealing to launch the “Choose Life Plates” in Massachusetts. An amazing story which we all listened to intently. After Merry’s speech, David Haschig and Gail Gardner presented our Pro-Lifetime Achievement Award to Ken and Merry Nordeen.

Christine Brown shared a poem titled – “This much.” What a blessing to hear this original and fun poem. Christine is a woman of many talents. Besides writing, she owns a business called “Fawn” which makes antique authentic baby clothing. She has sales in the U.S. and internationally.

We continued our night with our client video story.  A powerful message from a young woman whose unplanned pregnancy transformed from crises to blessing.  Love, acceptance, support, and personal growth were evident in her message. Yes, there are challenges but God is doing an amazing work in the lives of young woman, like the one we met this night. She blessed us all by bringing her baby and mom to the banquet.

Next, we heard a few words from our Medical Director Dr. John Worden and our Nurse Manager, Paula Butler. Dr. Dan Ervin presented our fundraising appeal. After which, introduced Pastor David Bodanza, of Mission Street Congregational Church in Gardner, MA, who lead us in song and perform the closing prayer.

We ended the night before 8:30pm.  What a blessing!

Thank you all for your support of Care Net PRC. You make it possible for us to minister to, support, counsel, and provides help to young women who face unplanned pregnancies in Fitchburg and the surrounding area.
