Christine and Paula at the community baby shower at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leominster

Care Net PRC Fitchburg was recently invited to a wonderful community baby shower at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leominster.  WIC had received grant money to host this community event and many local resource agencies that outreach to pregnant women and new Moms were invited to attend.  There were many resource agencies in attendance, including our center.  Each agency was asked to bring a gift to the shower to be raffled off to the pregnant women and new Moms that were in attendance.  The gift that we brought was a wicker-type basket filled to overflowing with diapers, wipes, baby toiletries, hand knit sweater sets, a handmade baby quilt and more.  This shower was a great opportunity for the new Moms to connect with each agency, and additionally it was a helpful way for the agencies to get to know more about each other.  There were at least two dozen resource agencies set up at the shower and each table seemed to have some type of free item for the guests that visited their display.  The number of people who were in attendance at this event reached into the hundreds.  Many of the women were present with their children and often Dads were at the shower too.  Overall this was a great event that helped to raise awareness about what types of resources are available in our area.  Kudos to WIC for going the extra mile and planning this valuable event!
